Becoming a Member of Bellamy UMC
The pastor of Bellamy United Methodist Church is happy to discuss how to join the congregation with prospective
members at any time. He can be reached by calling the church office at 804-694-5142. The following provides insight
into the membership process: How Do I Join The Church? If it is your desire to become part of Bellamy United
Methodist Church, please call the church office and make arrangements to speak with Pastor Waclo. He will set up a Sunday
for you to join the church family. This is the chance to be joined in front of and introduced to the congregation.
It also gives the congregation the privilege of renewing their vows of membership with you. The membership vows are
the commitments that everyone must make individually but are the common bonds that provide the ministry and outreach of the
church. Your Baptism
Is Accepted Here! If you have been a member of another church and were baptized either
as an infant, youth or adult using one of the traditional modes of baptism--sprinkling, pouring or immersion--there is no
need to be re-baptized to be a member of Bellamy. Joining By Profession Of Faith And Baptism Those wishing
to confess their faith in Jesus Christ and wishing to live a Christian life may become a member of the church by declaring
their purpose by answering the following: "Do you renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers
of this world and repent of you sin?" I DO. "Do you accept the freedom
and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves?" I DO. "Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole trust in His grace and promise to
serve Him as your Lord, in union with the church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations and races?" I DO. If you have not been previously baptized, the minister will administer the Sacrament
at this time. All persons joining by Profession of Faith must also answer the two questions below: Joining By Transfer From Another Denomination All who are coming from another congregation will be asked the following questions: "As a member of Christ's
universal church, will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and do all in your power to strengthen its ministries?"
I WILL. "As a member of Bellamy United Methodist Church, will you faithfully participate
in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?" I WILL. Joining By Transfer From Another United Methodist
Church We can reveive your transfer of membership from another United Methodist Church.
It is not necessary to have your church letter because the membership secretary will secure the certificate of transfer for
you. You will be asked: "As a member of Bellamy United Methodist Church, will you faithfully participate in its
ministry by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and yer service?" I WILL.
